Presentation board
Picture above shows the presentation board that I've done for the final review. The presentation board act as a overall flow of our assignment as we need to put in all the assignment that we've done. That included, Inspirational insects , 2D abstract, 3D abstract ,Character, Context, Story board, Activities, Design Principles,Site View, Orthographic drawings and axonometric drawing.
Basically, I used my 2D and 3D abstract as background, creating a flow to combine all 4 boards together. The heavy drawings which included Section drawings, I put it in the bottom, since it's a floating shelter, my 2D abstract drawing act as part of the water as well.
After the presentation, there's some feedback given by the lecturers. He stated that I've done well in my presentation but the shelter that I've designed should be more relate to butterfly itself, the beauty of butterfly should be there in the shelter, as my Key words are Joy, Elegant and Graceful. He also mentioned that my shelter looks edgy, it should be as flexible as my design language.
Reflection: The feedback given is much appreciated. I agreed with what the lecturers have mentioned. I know since in the starting of designing shelter for my character, everything goes abit wrong. During the first tutorial, I have asked to make a 3D form from a 2D plan , the idea which is from my research of buildings inspired by nature, which is not really relate to my inspirational insects and key words as well. If I didn't have done my shelter based on my research on the building inspired by nature, if I design my shelter based on the 3 keywords itself, I think I will definitely have a better shelter design which is related to the design language, key words and insects. Even so, I've learned a lesson from this great experience. In the future, as a interior architecture student, I will work harder and believe in myself more. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the IDP lectures who have taught me and given me useful advises and support.
Progress of my shelter making
Picture above shows the design I've done to show my progress of my shelter making. Looking at the progress, I felt that improving our design and making changes are really important to come out with one which can fit your satisfaction. Keep on changing and challenge in yourself is a good thinking.
shelter with the content
My shelter is 400mm floating on a lake, so I used transparent sheet acted as water.
