Introduction to Interior Design Projects

Assignment 1: SUPERsenses: Values of Observation & Abstraction

[1B] (Abstraction ) HOW Do You See?

i) 2D Abstract Drawing
   -to accentuate design language

For this 2D abstract drawing, essentially it's my final art piece based from the Abstract ideas I have done previously. I used key words which are Joy, Elegant and Graceful to describe a butterfly's character. I would like to draw bubbles floating in the air to resemble Joy and the ribbon/ clothes waving to and fro to resemble Elegant and Graceful, because cloth is soft and flexible. As if we are happy when we see a group of butterflies flying freely in the air.

Key words:
                 Joy , Elegant , Graceful

ii) 3D Abstract Model
    -3D transformation in understanding volume

The sphere-shaped is to represent bubbles floating in the air, I did it in various size because I wanted to show there's order which is from small to big. Besides, I also arranged the 'bubbles' in S line, from low to high.  The 'ribbon' which intersecting the 'bubbles' was done by using art card. I cut the art card into little pieces( 5mm x 100mm) , then I paste them together and created some smooth curves.

Material used:
-MDF board
-Art card
-Modelling board
-White threat

This is a photo taken on the submission day, these are the models my classmates have done, and it's only 50% among all.

 Progress ...

I estimated the size and shape of the 'ribbon' by using art card.

Reflection:
Fortunately my 3D Abstract Model is accepted because making a 3D model is very time consuming and since it's our first time doing this, we have no any experience yet, we might face a lot of difficulties while creating the model. But I see this as great experience as I know there will be more challenges waiting for me in the future in this design field.
